Our Story

Who We Are

Teguh Chambers is a legal practice based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, focused on pension and retirement income matters. The firm was founded on a simple premise: that people facing questions about their pension deserve clear answers and considerate service — not rushed appointments or confusing legal language.

The word teguh means firm or steadfast in Malay, and that quality runs through everything we do. When a client comes to us uncertain about what they are entitled to, or facing a decision they have been asked to challenge, our role is to stand beside them — explaining the steps, managing the correspondence, and helping them reach a point where they can decide with confidence.

We do not operate as a general practice. Pension matters are our focus. That deliberate narrowness allows us to understand the relevant legislation, the relevant bodies, and the types of questions that commonly arise — so that our guidance reflects genuine familiarity rather than broad approximation.

Our office is in the Menara Ansar building in central Johor Bahru, within easy reach of clients throughout the southern peninsula. We are also able to assist clients by correspondence where an in-person visit is not practical.

Our Mission

To provide steady, honest legal support on pension matters — helping clients understand their position and act on it with clarity, without unnecessary pressure or complexity.

Our Approach

We listen first. We explain what the situation looks like from a legal perspective, what options are available, and what each choice would involve — then we let you decide what to do next.

Our Commitment

Every client is treated with dignity. Fees are discussed openly. Nothing moves forward without your agreement. We are here to support your decision, not to make it for you.

How We Work

Standards We Hold Ourselves To

Malaysian Bar Compliance

All members of the firm are admitted advocates and solicitors of the High Court of Malaya, practising within the rules of the Malaysian Bar Council.

Strict Client Confidentiality

Every matter handled by the firm is subject to legal professional privilege. Client information is never shared beyond those directly involved in the matter.

Written Fee Agreements

Before any work begins, fees and scope are confirmed in writing. There are no undisclosed charges and no work added without prior discussion.

Deadline Accountability

We track filing and response deadlines carefully. Where a matter involves regulatory or tribunal timelines, we manage these on your behalf from the start.

Data Protection Practices

Client documents and personal data are held securely in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 and the firm's own data handling protocols.

Clear Communication Protocol

Updates are provided at each stage of a matter. If something changes, you hear from us directly — not through a letter you did not expect.

Legal Guidance on Pension Matters in Johor Bahru

Pension law in Malaysia touches on a range of statutory frameworks — from the Employees Provident Fund Act 1991 to the Pensions Act 1980 for public sector employees, along with a variety of employer-arranged retirement schemes. Understanding which framework applies to a given situation, and what rights and obligations flow from it, requires focused knowledge rather than general legal exposure.

At Teguh Chambers, our work in this area covers the full range of pension-related questions: what a person is entitled to and when, how to respond when a decision by a pension authority appears incorrect, and how to structure ongoing advice around protecting a retirement income over the longer term. Each matter is handled with the same care — a careful read of the documents, a plain explanation of the position, and support in taking the next step if that is what the client wishes to do.

We are located in central Johor Bahru and serve clients across southern Johor. For clients further afield, we are able to handle most stages of a matter by correspondence without requiring travel.
